Today’s Goal - Replace Google

Date February 29, 2008

Alot of people I know whether it’s on the internets or real life rely on google for day to day functions. Let’s face it I do or should I say did to. I made it a goal today to replace everything they offered me with something else. See if the life support google has offered me for so long could be severed I think I did just fine.
Google Search Engine - Replaced with yahooask and msn (alone they all stink but together not bad on results)
Google Reader - Replaced with Newsgator Online (does everything I need it to end of that)
Google Docs - Replaced (don’t need to share docs online, I only work with my docs no one else)
Google Calendar - Replaced with ical (meh i don’t need my calendars online)
Google Maps - Replaced with Yahoo Maps (While not as in depth as google it’s damn close)
Google News - Replaced with the rest of the web (sorry google your losing there at least for me)
Google Mail - Replaced with new .mac account ( already 8GB of storage that I will never even come close to using )
YouTube - Replaced ( yes it’s the defacto standard for videos online but I hear good things about crackle)
So there you have it folks google is not the gatekeeper to the interweb, not even close competition is there just gotta let go of the google kung-fu grip.
That is all.–jay
