The Christmas Holiday has come and gone, the hustle and bustle is all said and done. For the eve of this holiday my wife and I spent the time at her parents. To start off we got there roughly at 2:30pm just cause we were waiting for the main gift of the evening the Nintendo Wii that I was giving away to be delivered. We got it (thanks to twitter and amazon) and wrapped it asap and took off. When we arrived and immediately were struck by the Christmas tree that had been put up. (backstory: my in-laws xmas tree was actually our tree last year) This tree looked 10x better in there house then it did in our own, we remarked on how great it looked and went further into the house.
None of the invited guests of the night had arrived just yet, was just my wife, myself, mother inlaw and 1 family friend. Immediately upon sitting down I was offered food, I had to remind her the day was still young must leave food for later
she laughed and walked off. We sat there watching TV as the hours passed, we laughed and talked about alot. Fun times were being had, at about 5pm the first guests arrived, they to were offered food right away. I was commandeered by my father in-law to go his friends house to “chat and have a few beers” and oh yea repair his computer: (backstory: I am the “computer guy” of the family.) After about 1hour, 2 beers and 3 computers later we were headed back to the main house. Now I will tell you beers do not intoxicate me they do in fact make me quite sleepy. So that came next.
I coaxed the wife into taking a nap with me was now around 10:30ish and we asked to please be awoken when it was gift time, which in this house was round 11.
Gift time, I got my first gift a rather nice blue shirt with lines going up and down it. It looks much better than my lame description and an equally nice sweater. That was it, my wife score a white cotton robe and a silk scarf (santa rather stiffed us this year) after some purses and glasses and trinkets the main event came. My father-inlaws turn, he grabbed his bag and exclaimed “Y que es esto” (translation: what is all this???) He opened the first box Super Mario Galaxy, next box a Wii Nunchuk, next box Wii Play, and finally the Nintendo Wii. He looked a bit bewildered so everyone explained what he had and he just said ooooh and aaaah. But with a huge kool-aid grin. Suffice to say my wife and I hooked that sucker up and “taught” (actually means we played he watched) him the ins and outs of the Wii-Ness. Fun times were had and now my wife really, really wants a Wii.
Isn’t that what the holidays are for, fun times and getting to tell your wife inadvertently “I told you so.”
Hope everyone had an equally good time and is looking forward to 2008.
